Trying to Conceive: My Honest Journey + The Simple Daily Habits That Helped Me Feel Hopeful Again

(Non-medical lifestyle guidance only — always talk to your provider about your health. )

Trying to conceive can feel like one of the most emotional seasons of your life.
No matter where you are on this journey — hopeful, frustrated, excited, or exhausted — I want you to know: you’re not alone, and you’re doing better than you think.

When I first started TTC, I realized quickly that I needed two things:

  1. A simple, doable way to support my body and mindset
  2. A clear roadmap that didn’t overwhelm me

This post is a gentle lifestyle guide, based on the calming routines and habits that helped me feel grounded during my own trying to conceive journey. And now, with my redesigned Pregnancy Prep Guide, you’ll have an even more structured path if you want deeper support.

I didn’t need more advice. I needed something sustainable.

Many of these ideas fit into the zero trimester, or the season before pregnancy. You can explore the full framework inside my Pregnancy Prep Hub.

🌸Start with the Foundations: TTC Daily Habits That Support Your Journey

These habits aren’t medical advice; they are just lifestyle practices that helped me feel more in control and connected to my body.

🫶 1. Create a Calm Morning Ritual

Your hormones respond beautifully to routine and safety cues. A predictable morning can help lower stress and start the day grounded.

My Trying to Conceive morning ritual looked like:

  • A warm mug of organic lemon water
  • 5 minutes of gentle stretching
  • Writing one positive thought in a notebook
  • Taking my prenatal vitamin

🌿 2. Nourish Your Body With Fertility-Friendly Foods

I focused on foods that made me feel energized, satisfied, and steady — not deprived or stressed.

Here are the staples I kept on hand (affordable + easy):

  • Organic berries
  • Avocado
  • Eggs
  • Leafy greens
  • Wild salmon
  • Brazil nuts (one or two a day is plenty)
  • Bone broth
  • Lentil-based meals

And for quick convenience:
👉 Bone Broth Powder — easy to stir into anything

👉 Organic Brazil Nuts

👉 Lentil Pasta (my go-to for easy protein-rich meals)

If you want a simple place to start, I created a free fertility-friendly meal starter pack that removes one daily decision.

✨ 3. Choose a High-Quality Prenatal You’ll Actually Take Daily

You don’t need the fanciest prenatal on the market, just one that’s high quality and consistent in your daily routine.

Popular choices TTC moms love:
👉 Ritual Essential Prenatal

👉 MegaFood Baby & Me 2

👉 Nature Made Prenatal with Folic Acid + DHA (great budget option)

Choose the one you’ll remember to take every single day. Consistency matters more than perfection.

Pro-Mama Tip: I recommend sticking with a pill or capsule rather than a gummy pre-natal. They usually appear to have more vitamins and minerals than the gummy versions. If you find you’re regularly forgetting to take your vitamin, grab a cute pill holder and leave it next to your morning coffee mugs!

Not Sure What You Need Next? Start Here.

If you’re just starting TTC
→ Build a calm, realistic foundation before you overwhelm yourself.

If TTC already feels emotionally heavy
→ This mindset shift matters more than any supplement.

If you want structure without pressure
→ A gentle framework so you don’t have to hold everything in your head.

💗 4. Support Your Sleep (It Matters More Than You Think)

Rest is one of the most underrated fertility-friendly habits.

Here are some small but powerful upgrades:
👉 Sound Machine with sunrise alarm

👉 Blackout sleep mask with gentle eye massager

👉 Super cozy comforter set (I absolutely love my Coma Inducer set!)

These tiny shifts lowered my nighttime stress and helped me feel more rested — which made everything feel more doable.

🌼 5. Move Your Body Gently but Consistently

You don’t need intense workouts.
Walking, Pilates, stretching — anything that feels calming and sustainable — is enough.

My favorite TTC workout tools:
👉 Low-impact resistance band set

👉 At-home Pilates ring

👉 A fitness watch (one of my absolute favorite tools for awareness and motivation!)

👉 A quality walking pad

Moving my body gave me mental clarity and helped regulate my cycle.

💬 A Few Things I Wish Someone Told Me While TTC

✔ You don’t need to do everything at once.

Small consistent habits are more powerful than overwhelming protocols.

✔ It’s normal to have emotional waves.

Hope, discouragement, excitement, anxiety — they’re all part of the journey.

✔ Your worth is not tied to how fast this happens.

You are not behind. You are not failing.
You are building the foundation for the family you dream of.

You can create space to become the healthiest version of you, physically and emotionally, while waiting.
