SNOO Review After 2 Babies: Is the Smart Bassinet Worth It?

I think every parent would agree that sleeping through the night is a major newborn-stage dream.

Not because sleep is the only thing that matters. There are so many sweet, tiny, fleeting parts of the newborn season. The contact naps. The little stretches. The milk-drunk faces. The impossibly small fingers wrapped around yours.

But also?

Sleep matters.

It is a basic human need, and newborn sleep deprivation is no joke. Coffee can only do so much when you are healing, feeding a baby around the clock, trying to function, and wondering if you are doing everything right.

When I was pregnant with my son, my uncle asked if we were considering a SNOO. We had no clue what he was talking about, but he told us it had been a game changer for my cousin’s baby. Then we found out my husband’s company offered a 5-month SNOO rental as a benefit, and we decided we absolutely had to try it.

I first wrote this SNOO review as a first-time mom after using the SNOO with my son.

Now I am updating it after using the SNOO again with my daughter.

And yes — I still love it.

At this point, this is not just a “nervous first-time mom tried an expensive bassinet” review. I have used the SNOO through two newborn seasons, with two different babies, in two different stages of motherhood.

And I would use it again for baby #3.

What Is the SNOO Smart Sleeper?

The SNOO is a smart bassinet designed to help soothe your baby with motion and white noise.

It essentially mimics the motion and sound environment babies are used to before birth. When your baby fusses, the SNOO can respond by increasing the rocking motion and white noise to help calm them. If your baby keeps crying or needs you, it stops and alerts you.

The SNOO also uses special SNOO sleep sacks that clip into the bassinet. This is one of the biggest reasons I loved it, especially as a first-time mom. The clipped-in sleep sack helps keep baby positioned on their back while they sleep.

That safe sleep support gave me so much peace of mind.

Of course, the SNOO is not magic. It does not replace feeding, changing, burping, cuddling, responding to your baby, or following your pediatrician’s guidance.

But for our family, it was a very helpful newborn sleep tool.

Why We Tried the SNOO With My Son

With my son, I was a brand-new mom.

I was excited, emotional, exhausted, and honestly anxious about sleep. Like so many first-time moms, I wanted to do everything “right,” especially when it came to safe sleep.

The SNOO helped me feel like there was one less thing to panic about in the middle of the night.

I loved knowing he was sleeping on his back, in his own sleep space, right next to me. I loved being able to check the app and see his sleep stretches. I loved that the SNOO could soothe him without me immediately jumping up for every tiny newborn grunt.

And for him, it worked really well.

With the help of the SNOO, my little guy was sleeping through the night by about 10 weeks old. He eventually began sleeping 10–12 hours a night consistently.

Obviously, I cannot say the SNOO was the only reason. Every baby is different. Feeding, temperament, growth, reflux, health, and so many other things affect newborn sleep.

But I can say this: the SNOO was a major part of our newborn sleep setup, and it made that season feel more manageable.

What It Was Like Using the SNOO Again With My Daughter

Using the SNOO with my daughter felt different because I was different.

With my son, I was watching every movement. I was checking the app constantly. I was analyzing every red mark on the sleep log and wondering if I should be doing something differently.

With my daughter, I trusted myself more.

I still loved the SNOO, but I did not use it from a place of panic. I used it as a tool.

And honestly, as a second-time mom, I appreciated it in a whole new way.

When you have a newborn and an older child, sleep is not just about feeling rested. It is about being able to function the next day. It is about having enough patience for your toddler or older child. It is about not feeling like you are barely surviving every single morning.

The SNOO gave me a little more structure and support during the newborn stage, and that mattered even more when I had two children who needed me.

I also loved the app more the second time around, which surprised me.

My Updated Thoughts on the SNOO App Subscription

I know a lot of parents have strong feelings about baby gear subscriptions, and I completely get it. Nobody wants to buy or rent an expensive baby product and then feel like they need another paid app on top of it.

But this time, I actually really liked the Happiest Baby app experience.

The biggest reason?

It let me track so many newborn things in one place.

I could log nursing, bottles, diapers, sleep, pumping, and growth without needing a totally separate baby tracking app. During the newborn stage, that was genuinely helpful.

I did not feel like I needed another app. The SNOO app became my baby tracker.

This was especially helpful for pediatrician visits. Instead of trying to remember how many wet diapers she had, how often she was nursing, how much she had taken from bottles, or what her sleep had looked like, I had everything in one place.

When you are postpartum and sleep-deprived, that matters.

I also liked having the SNOO sleep data connected to everything else. It made the newborn routine feel less scattered.

Would I tell every family they need the Premium subscription forever? No.

But would I tell a mom using the SNOO to check exactly what app access is included before buying, renting, borrowing, or purchasing secondhand?

Absolutely.

The app structure has changed since I first used the SNOO with my son, so this is something I would look into before making a decision. Check whether your SNOO comes with Premium access, how long that access lasts, and what features matter most to you.

For me, using it with my daughter, the app was not just a sleep log. It was a newborn command center.

It was a breeze to log all of our activity together. I loved having everything in one place and not having to open one more app.

The app was perfect for reducing my mental load (especially when I had even less bandwidth as a new mom of two!).

Check out my pumping log over a week as a great example. This gave me a lot of insight that helped me build a 700-ounce freezer stash.

My Favorite SNOO Feature

My favorite SNOO feature is still the safe sleep peace of mind.

There are a lot of fancy things the SNOO can do. It rocks. It shushes. It responds. It logs sleep. It has settings you can customize.

But for me, the most valuable part was always knowing my baby was sleeping on their back in their own sleep space.

That was huge with my son because I was a nervous first-time mom.

It was still huge with my daughter because even though I was more confident, I also had more on my plate.

Newborn sleep anxiety is real. The SNOO did not remove every worry, but it helped quiet one of the biggest ones for me.

A quick note: I am not a pediatrician, and this is not medical advice. Always follow current safe sleep guidance, read the SNOO instructions carefully, and talk to your pediatrician if you have any questions about what is safest for your baby.

What I Loved About the SNOO

After using it with both my son and my daughter, these are the things I loved most:

It gave me peace of mind

This is the biggest one.

Especially during the early newborn weeks, I liked knowing my baby was clipped into the SNOO sack and positioned on their back.

It helped my babies settle

The motion and white noise were helpful for us. Sometimes the SNOO soothed my baby back down without me needing to fully intervene.

That does not mean I ignored my babies. If they needed to eat, be changed, burp, or be held, I absolutely responded.

But not every newborn noise means “fully awake and needs to be picked up immediately,” and the SNOO helped me learn that.

It gave us a clearer sleep routine

The SNOO created a consistent sleep environment.

Same bassinet. Same sound. Same motion. Same sleep sack style.

For my son, that consistency seemed to help a lot.

For my daughter, I appreciated the routine even more because life with two kids is naturally less quiet and controlled.

The app made tracking easier

This became a much bigger positive for me the second time.

Being able to log nursing, bottles, diapers, sleep, pumping, and growth in the same app made the newborn phase feel more organized. I especially appreciated it when preparing for pediatrician visits.

It was helpful for travel

With my son, we brought the SNOO on several weeklong road trips. It was not exactly lightweight, but it was very doable for car travel.

The legs come off, the setup is pretty intuitive, and it allowed him to sleep in a familiar space even when we were away from home.

When you are traveling with a baby, anything familiar helps.

What I Did Not Love About the SNOO

No baby product is perfect, and the SNOO is no exception.

It is expensive

This is the obvious drawback.

The SNOO is a big-ticket baby item. I do think it can be worth it, but I also think families should compare options carefully.

Look at buying, renting, borrowing, registry contributions, employer benefits, secondhand options, and resale value.

Just make sure you also factor in app access, accessories, and whether the SNOO is coming from an authorized source.

The accessories matter more than you think

You do not want to realize at 2 a.m. that the only clean SNOO sack is still damp in the dryer.

Ask me how I know.

If you are using the SNOO, you need extra sacks and sheets ready from day one. This is not the place to be overly minimal.

The app access can be confusing

Because the app structure has changed, I would not assume that every SNOO situation comes with the exact same app features.

Buying new, renting, borrowing, buying secondhand, or using an employer benefit may all have different app access details.

Before you decide what route to take, check the current Happiest Baby app subscription information so you understand what is included.

You still have to transition out of it

Eventually, your baby will outgrow the SNOO.

This is not a bad thing, but it is something to plan for. I would not wait until the very last second to think about the next sleep space.

More on that below, because I wrote a whole post about transitioning from the SNOO to the Cradlewise.

What SNOO Accessories Do You Actually Need on Day 1?

If you are getting the SNOO, I strongly recommend setting yourself up before baby arrives.

The SNOO itself is not the only thing you need.

At minimum, I personally like having at least two SNOO sacks in each size. Sometimes they do not dry quickly, and you really do not want to be without one when you need it most.

I also recommend having 3–4 SNOO sheet sets. Middle-of-the-night spit-up happens. Diaper leaks happen. Babies hate the wet spot. You want to be able to change the sheet quickly without doing emergency laundry at 3 a.m.

I also had SNOO leg lifters on hand in case of illness. I never ended up needing to use them, but I liked having them available so I would not be scrambling if my little one ever got congested or sick. These are only to be used with pediatrician approval, but they were something I felt better having so I could have them available if I needed them and my little one’s doctor approved.

I wrote a full post breaking down exactly what SNOO accessories I would have ready on day one, what I would buy extras of, and what I would skip.

Related post: [What Happiest Baby Products Do You Actually Need for the SNOO?]

I would read that before finalizing your registry or placing a SNOO order because the accessories are what make the day-to-day use easier.

The SNOO Accessory I Would Skip

The item I would personally skip is the Sleepea.

That might be surprising because it is a Happiest Baby product, and I do think some babies may like it.

But for our family, if baby was sleeping in the SNOO, we used the SNOO sacks. If baby was sleeping away from the SNOO, I preferred other swaddle options.

If your baby is really comfortable in the SNOO sack style and you want something similar for sleep away from the SNOO, then maybe grab one.

But there are a lot of great swaddle and sleep sack options outside of the SNOO system. For swaddling outside the SNOO, I personally liked options like the HALO sleep sack better.

So for me, the must-haves are extra SNOO sacks and sheets.

The Sleepea is optional.

Can You Travel With the SNOO?

Yes, you can travel with the SNOO, especially if you are driving.

We brought our SNOO with us on several weeklong road trips with my son. We took off the legs, wrapped the body carefully, and packed it in the car.

It is somewhat heavy, so I would treat moving the main bassinet body as a two-person job.

But I loved having it with us.

Travel can be a lot for a baby. New environment, different sounds, family visits, disrupted naps, longer car rides — it adds up. Having his familiar sleep space helped make overnight sleep feel less chaotic.

Would I bring it on every trip? No.

Would I fly with it? Personally, no.

But for road trips during the newborn stage, I was very happy we brought it.

How We Thought About Transitioning Out of the SNOO

The SNOO is amazing, but it is not forever.

At some point, your baby needs to transition to the next sleep space. With my son, we started doing some daytime naps in the crib before he was fully out of the SNOO. That helped make the transition feel less abrupt.

With my daughter, I had the benefit of knowing that the SNOO stage really does end, even when it feels like newborn life is your whole world.

I think the key is to not panic about the transition before you need to, but also not ignore it completely.

You can use weaning mode, practice crib naps, start with one sleep period at a time, or transition more directly depending on your baby and your family.

There is not one perfect way to do it.

After the SNOO: Why We Transitioned to the Cradlewise

After using the SNOO, you may be wondering what comes next.

For us, that next stage included the Cradlewise.

The SNOO is designed for the newborn stage. The Cradlewise is a different type of smart sleep product, and it made sense for us as we moved beyond the SNOO phase.

I wrote a full post about our transition from the SNOO to the Cradlewise, including what worked, what was hard, and how I would approach the transition if I were doing it again.

If you are currently loving the SNOO but already feeling nervous about what happens when your baby outgrows it, I would read that next.

The transition can feel intimidating, but it is doable. And like most baby sleep changes, it usually feels bigger in your mind before you are actually through it.

Is the SNOO Worth It for a First-Time Mom?

For me, yes.

As a first-time mom, the SNOO helped calm a lot of my anxiety around newborn sleep.

I liked the safe sleep support. I liked the app. I liked seeing my son’s sleep patterns. I liked that it gave us a clear sleep setup from the beginning.

I also liked that it helped me learn my baby’s sleep rhythms.

When you are a new mom, it can feel like every sound means something urgent. The SNOO helped me pause for a second and see whether my baby was actually waking up or just making normal newborn sleep noises.

That was helpful.

If you are a first-time mom who is anxious about safe sleep, easily overwhelmed by newborn sleep decisions, or really wants a structured bassinet setup, I do think the SNOO is worth considering.

Is the SNOO Worth It for a Second Baby?

This is where my answer became even stronger.

Yes, I think the SNOO can be worth it for a second baby.

With my daughter, I was less anxious, but I had more responsibility. I was not just caring for a newborn. I was also parenting my son.

The extra support at night mattered.

The app tracking also mattered more than I expected. Being able to keep nursing, bottles, diapers, pumping, sleep, and growth in one place made life easier during a season when my brain was already holding too many things.

With baby #1, the SNOO helped me feel safer and calmer.

With baby #2, the SNOO helped me feel more supported and organized.

Both were valuable.

Who I Think the SNOO Is Best For

After using the SNOO with two babies, I think it is especially worth considering for:

  • First-time moms who feel anxious about safe sleep.
  • Parents who want a bassinet that responds to baby’s fussing.
  • Families who value baby sleep data and tracking.
  • Second-time parents who need as much nighttime support as possible.
  • Parents who can access a rental, employer benefit, registry contribution, or good resale option.
  • Families who travel by car during the newborn stage and want a familiar sleep space.
  • Parents who want one app to help track baby sleep, feedings, diapers, pumping, and growth.

I do not think every family needs the SNOO.

But I do think it can be incredibly helpful for the right family.

Who Might Not Need the SNOO

The SNOO may not be the best fit if:

  • You are on a tight baby gear budget and the cost would create stress.
  • You do not want to deal with app settings or subscriptions.
  • You prefer a very simple bassinet with no technology.
  • Your baby strongly dislikes motion.
  • You are buying secondhand and do not want to pay for Premium app features.
  • You already have a bassinet you love and feel confident using.

I loved the SNOO, but I do not think any baby product should be treated like a requirement.

Your baby can sleep safely without a SNOO.

Your baby can sleep well without a SNOO.

You can be a wonderful, responsive, safe, loving parent without a SNOO.

For us, it was worth it.

For another family, a simple bassinet may be perfectly enough.

Would I Use the SNOO Again for Baby #3?

Yes.

Without question.

I used the SNOO with my son, used it again with my daughter, and I would absolutely use it again for baby #3.

That is probably the clearest review I can give.

I would make sure I had extra sacks and sheets ready from day one. I would check the current app access before setting it up. I would use the app tracker again because I loved having nursing, bottles, diapers, sleep, pumping, and growth in one place. I would also think about the transition plan earlier so the move out of the SNOO felt less overwhelming.

But yes, I would use it again.

The SNOO was one of the few expensive baby products that still felt worth it after using it through more than one newborn season.

Final Thoughts: My Honest SNOO Review After Two Babies

So, is the SNOO worth it?

For my family, yes.

The SNOO helped my son sleep well as a newborn. It gave me peace of mind as a first-time mom. Then, when I used it again with my daughter, it still felt helpful — but in a different way.

The second time, I was not just looking for reassurance. I was looking for support, simplicity, and systems that made newborn life feel a little less scattered.

The SNOO gave me that.

I loved the safe sleep support. I loved the soothing. I loved the routine. And this time, I really loved being able to use the app to track nursing, bottles, diapers, sleep, pumping, and growth without needing another baby app.

It made pediatrician visits easier. It made the newborn stage feel more organized. And it helped me get through those early months with a little more confidence.

The SNOO is expensive, and I do think you should compare buying, renting, borrowing, registry help, employer benefits, and secondhand options before deciding.

But if you are asking whether I still recommend it after using it for two babies?

Yes.

I still love the SNOO.

And yes, I would use it again for baby #3.
